It's All Fun & Games ...

Hooray! Another blogfest! This one's short and sweet. Simply share three of my fave games!

Click on the pic to get to blogfest HDQ and check out the other entries.

Here are mine:

1. Balderdash  Okay, I kick butt in this game. Why? Because I'm a writer. Duh. :)

2. Trivial Pursuit  My idea of a good time? An all nighter of this game with friends. Yep, I'm such a nerd.

3. Canasta  I know, I know... old ladies's game. But I used to play it with my parents every Saturday afternoon and it's darned fun!

Sadly, once the kiddies came along our game playing took a total dive. BUT! They're getting old enough now we can start playing again. So who's up for a crazy night of board games??

What's your fave game?

Ha! Balderdash and Trivial Pursuit ARE fun! We didn't have them around when I was a kid, but I think had I played more, they might have made my list, too.

Woohoo, I think all writers must excel at Balderdash, it's in the Writers' Rulebook isn't it? :D

My family always plays cards when we get together, ah the memories :)

Hugs,

Rach

Trivial Pursuit is one of my faves as well. And I have never played Balderdash, what kind of writer am I? I'm going to have to give it a go.

You are a hero for playing Trivial Pursuit. LOL

I am a lady and yes, I love canasta. It's a fantastic game that I often played late into the night with my friends.

Playing canasta? Deal me in! We kids learned from our parents (so we'd leave them and their friends alone to play.) I love that game and can play into the night.

Bolderdash is a great drinking game. The fun never stops. Haven't played Canasta but I have played Peanuckle.

Hey, Girl, just checked my comments - congrats on your self-pub. I'm definitely going to buy a copy. (I love it when I see a fellow blogger's name, even if it's a pen name, on the cover!) I'm excited for you! Can't wait until my process is his-to-ry!

The main problem is me - I'm a computer dinasour! Computers hit when we were in Africa; I've been playing catch-up ever since.

Hadn't thought about an interview - but, hmmm, maybe, yes, I'm kinda shy, but gotta jump in, right? You are sooooo sweet to offer...but, hey, turnabout fairplay, how about I interview you as well???

Balderdash is fun--I like any word games. Scrabble, Boggle, UpWords, etc. A writer's fave, word games!! Have a great week. :)

One of my fondest Thanksgiving memories is sitting around the table playing Balderdash with my husband and his cousins. We were crying because we were laughing so hard at times!! Love that game!

Canasta! How did I not remember that one? It was the picnic table game under the Oak tree each summer evening.

I'm all about Trivial Pursuit even though I always lose. Not very smart sounding huh:)

With the little ones in my house I feel like I haven't played more than chutes and ladders and candyland in ages.

Oh, and Pk, you've been tagged on my blog:)

Trivia games are so much fun to play. =)

Poetry, Quotes and Book Reviews.

I especially like the Trivial Pursuit for juniors, Star Wars, or Lord of the Rings editions. Those are the only versions where I have a shot at winning.

Balderdash is a great game.

love Balderdash. I love Cranium, and do well on it. It's a thinking-outside-the-box game, and great for parties.

Count me in for Trivial Pursuit!

Ah, mine would be Mario Brothers, Scramble, and Snakes and Ladders. Also like those old fashioned games like Cluedo and Drafts :o)

I AM A CANASTA FIEND!!!!
it's the only card came I know how to play other than go fish and I am amazing at canasta (not so much go fish.)

In Uruguay, where my mom is from, we'd always play cards well into the night and the south american version of canasta is pretty much cut throat. I even wrote about canasta for my A-Z blog R is for Revancha (revenge). Yeah. I'm a canasta fanatic. That's weird, right?

I also love Clue. We just introduced our seven year old to clue and she loved it. Now we just have to wait until the two year old is in bed then we'll sit in the screen room asking each other, "Was it you, MUSTARD?"
Good times.

I've never heard of your first choice and I'm intrigued, but I LOVE Triv... though I'm rubbish at it.
My boyfriend and I discovered Canasta when we first moved in together and we wasted DAYS on this game - I love it. As we got bored, we made up new rules, added more cards... it became so mega complex that we eventually forgot how to play the original version!
Great choices

I'm a board game girl. My favorite was CLUE. I also play Casino.

I've never played Balderash before (I had to look it up!). I liked playing Trivial Pursuit but man a lot of those questions were tough.

L'Aussie said...

I love all your choices. I'm realising I haven't played enough games lately!

I LOVE board games, it'd be hard to narrow it down to just 3. I'm a spelling nerd and have always loved Boggle. A more recent fave is Apples to Apples, and Cranium is a fun group game.

Balderdash is fun, but also very chaotic when you play it with a lot of creative people, because there's so many interesting definitions that you have no idea what's true and what's fake. :)

Trivial pursuit can be fun, but I'm not sure I trust the answers in the game.

Thanks for blogfesting!

PK! I love Canasta. You should join me in an online game of it.

never played canasta, but I've always joked that it is something to look forward to in my golden years

Kelly mentioned it before. Balderdash, for my family, was a ritual at Thanksgiving. My brother and I had reps within the clan, too. I was good because of the creative curse, and my brother was good because he was just so full of.......spontaneity

Thanks for sharing! Neat choices!

Nicole Zoltack said...

Awesome choices! Wouldn't it be awesome if all of us writers could get together and play Balderdash or Scrabble?

K.C. Woolf said...

We played a lot of Trivial Pursuit in college, and I always loved that. :-)
