Today's the Tumble 4 Ya Blogfest and I'm posting a bit on my crush from the 80's.
What can I say about the 80's? I went from an 8 year old to a teen during that decade, so it was smack dab in the middle of my growing up. And although I had many crushes, the one I remember as being the most intense, involves this scene right here:
Yep, that was just about the time puberty hit for me, and seeing all those glistening muscles left me drooling. I had a crush on every single one of them. Honestly, I've never been a fan of Tom Cruise's acting, but he was hot stuff in the 80s, as was Val Kilmer, who later rocked my world playing Jim Morrison in Oliver Stone's The Doors.
So there you have it. I would've tumbled for any one of these babe's back when I was a freckle-faced, metal-mouthed, Aqua-net-plastered tween entering full teen-dom.
Don't forget to click on the cassette tape above to get to blogfest HDQ and see the other entries.
How about you? Who was your 80's crush? Or if that was after your time, looking back, who rocked your world?

80's movies are the best! Love the Top Gun video. Hands down my 80's crush was Jake Ryan (Michael Schoeffling) in Sixteen Candles.
That was after my time,I met my husband at 17 so was very much taken up with him.
Yvonne.
That was a hot movie back then. Good choice.
Visiting from the blogfest, Nice meeting you. I mentioned Top Gun in my post but because my crush was Tom Cruise.
Jon Bon Jovi was my 80's crush! I had posters of him covering every inch of my bedroom wall!
Isn't surprising to see the two different directions Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer took (physique-wise) after this movie. :)
I don't blame you for crushing him. It was a great movie!
I may have had a small crush on the Top Gun guys too. I mean, all that topless volleyball! Who could resist?
Thank God no one told me about this blogfest. I mean I was 13 by the time the 80s ended so not a lot of crushing going on.
I am completely loving this blogfest, because...damn it, I love the 80s!! I was born in 1980, just in time to get a taste of the decade, but even today there is stuff I have yet to learn. For e.g., I only saw TOP GUN for the first time last year ;) But I am loving every part of my expanded 80s movie education!
I totally loved Top Gun back in the day. What a fun movie! And you're right, it's hard to beat that volleyball scene. :D
Tom Cruise was at his best in the 80s. I think Val has become more mysterious as he's gotten older...intriguing :)
The funny thing is.... the video I posted here is dubbed in Spanish... LOL
What shocks me seeing Top Gun is seeing sensitive soul Dr Green from ER in it!! I mean, that's Dr Green!
Take care
x
Awh cute! I remember Top Gun. I
was 17yrs in 1980 and loved Spandau Ballet and The Love Cats (by The Cure) Starsky & Hutch & Charlie's Angels.
Nice to see someone select Kilmer over Cruise.
I was a Duran Duran girl, but I drooled over Val Kilmer, too!
I have actually never seen this movie before, believe it or not. I knew Tom Cruise was in it and the guy from ER, but I didn't know Val Kilmer was in it. Gotta be honest, I'm still trying to get past his hair in this clip... O_o...
I graduated from high school in 1989 and my 80s crush was Bruce Willis, from Moonlighting. I thought he was sooo charming!
Love this blogfest, but I might say it is a bit "out there" or "too far back there" for this ex-flower child. In the seventies; Fleetwood Mac, or R&B singer Teddy Pendagrass; lived through the real thing on live TV one hot August afternoon; the movie? Dog Day Afternoon, with my heart throb, Al. Okay all of you Gen-X'ers ... I go back to Paul Newman in the Hustler; and both of the real Morrisons ... Jim and Van. Gees, these "fests" can age an old rocker :)
Here's one for you: I sat and watched the very first week of VJ's on this new thing called MTV; Police anyone?
Oh thank you THANK YOU for posting the scene! Yep, I'll be puberty struck right at that exact moment, haha.
Hmm, 80's crush? Can't recall. Don't think I watched much TV in the 80s...I was in my 20s then, just married. I oozed over the radio and lots of songs as a teen, though.
Haha, you being freckle-faced and metal-mouthed, etc. Ah, youth...
Tom Cruise seems very popular on the blogfest today. I was a Coreys girl.
It's hard to think of him without all of the baggage these days, but Tom was great in the day. That volleyball scene was really...nice. lol
Yeah, that scene was pretty droolworthy!
ANd I loved Val Kilmer in the Doors! He was so good!!
'a freckle-faced, metal-mouthed, Aqua-net-plastered tween entering full teen-dom'
A very cute description.
I've never seen Top Gun. Ever. But I did like Tom Cruise's smile.
I could totally see this scene rocking your socks in the 80s; Cruise had a baby face back then and I definitely had a crush on him after the first time I saw Cocktail. I was only 6 when the 80s ended, though, so I was a bit too young to appreciate the men during that time, but I am sure I looked back on with ga-ga eyes when I watched all of my 80s faves - like Swayze in Dirty Dancing, the aforementioned Cruise in Cocktail and probably Brad Pitt in anything. :)
I loved Val Kilmer in that movie and many others after that. :) Good memories.
What is it with women and Tom Cruise? Anyway, lets not forget counsellor Troy from Star Trek. yummy.
I loved Val Kilmer, he could do no wrong in my eyes :-)
Great movie, I loved Tom in this one!
I love Val Kilmer, too...
He was amazing in The Doors...
Now I want to go watch this movie ;D
I love your selections!!!
Top Gun's getting a lot of love in this blog hop - especially the volleyball scene! I had no idea. I think Kilmer's great - an under-appreciated talemt.
Love,LOVE the TG volleyball scene.
it totally rocked my center of gravity back in the day. Hot Stuff!!
My other crush film back then was Lost Boys. Edward and his crew can't hold a candle to Kiefer and the Corey's. LOL
Val Kilmer playing Jim Morrison worked well. Can't say I lusted after the Cruise though.
I am in the blog-fest, so my 80s crush is detailed on my blog!
What a fun blogfest. I can't think of whom I've tumbled for when I was younger.
Oh THANK YOU for that video. *sighs* Excellent taste, dear. And I love that you give us some guidance on how to pronounce your last name.
I was born in the mid 80s and I absolutely LOVE 80s music. I haven't seen "Top Gun" in years!
Yes! Love the Doors shout-out! That was a great film.
I was over at Kelly's blog a few minutes ago and I confessed to Lita Ford, Paulina Porizkova, Nancy McKeon and Justine Bateman.
Tale care, my friend. *waves*

Top Gun was a great movie for its time.
Ah, Top Gun. I actually just bought the BluRay for my collection. I was deep in Mark Hamill/Luke Skywalker crushing during that time. I did actually smack into Val Kilmer at an event in Hollywood. It was good for me.
At the very least you admit you're not a fan of his acting... otherwise we'd have cause to worry!
