Yep, she's pretty much the lady of the hour, day, month .... maybe even year. But hey, how could I ignore the attraction during my month long tribute to fave characters A-Z? And having just seen the movie last week, I can honestly say I love her even more. It's really not hard to figure out why so many readers--and now film-goers--can identify and relate to Katniss Everdeen. She's devoted to her family, poor as a pauper, and tough as nails. And her skill with a bow and arrow makes every female on the planet say to themselves, "Mm-hmm, that's right ... chicks can be bad-ass!"
I got Hubby to read the book and he really liked it too, although he did mention there were too many girly-emotion moments. lol. The film met all my expectations, but if I hadn't have already known the story from the book, I'd have questioned quite a bit. Anyone else feel that way? Jennifer Lawrence owned the role of Katniss, really and truly. I mean, she WAS Katniss in my mind. She's a superstar!

Still haven't seen the movie yet. Heard the next X-Men Origins movie is on hold until they finish with this series. Now that she's so popular, they definitely want her to return!
I thought in the book she was kind of dense at times, especially concerning Peeta.
I saw the film and I really wanted to love it, but I just didn't. They did a good job of sticking to the plot, and things that were changed or omitted, I could see why. But I thought it was just okay.
Haven't seen the movie yet. I enjoyed the books, with the first one being my favorite I think. And I agree she was a little dense about Peeta. :)
Haven't read the book or seen the movie, but I intend to read the book at least. Can't think of a K character off the top of my head.

I thought the movie was good, and Katniss nicely portrayed (except a couple lines that she mumbled). She's a good K character! But yeah, probably less of a guy book/movie than a girls'.
I've decided to go and see the movie tomorrow, by myself! I love attending movies on my own ;) I'm almost at the end of book #2 right now, and I really do love the series. Katniss is indeed badass, but I have a similar take to your hubby in that I think sometimes she's a bit emo - a bit "oh, poor me! I'm crap at all this stuff!" when actually she's really kick-arse and should know it. I'm not a fan of whiny people, and she strikes me as whiny sometimes, even though she's got PLENTY to whine about. haha. I don't really know how to explain it properly, but there are just moments when I think she could be a bit more proud of herself and yet opts for the emo instead.
Maybe that's part of not being as mature as she'll be as an adult, though.
Oh, and I'm only just getting around to catching up on A-Z posts/themes so far, but I love your theme already! Look forward to reading your other posts :)

I'm a big Katniss fan, loved the books and the movie but I can see where people who haven't read the books might not understand all aspects of the movie.
And yeah, I think she is a bit dense about Peeta's feelings but I think that can be attributed to the fact that she's a sixteen year old girl who's been more focused on not starving to death than boys. Romance has never been on her radar. It's always been survival.

I wasn't a big fan of Katniss in the books, but I loved her in the movie. Weird, right? Because she's the same! Jennifer did an awesome job. :)
Jennifer was amazing as Katniss. I know some critics complained that she was too "chubby" but I never thought that at all.
Totally badass. Funny, my hubby said the same thing about the girly emotions and remarks. Makes sense I guess, but The Hunger Games still has a bit of something for everyone.
If she was kick-butt, feisty and brave then she's my kind of character. Um...haven't read the book yet (said in a small voice) and haven't seen the film (even smaller one). But I WILL!!!
I don't generally like Dystopian universes (I think I am the only one) but I really liked the movie. I haven't read the book yet because it is backed up by 100 positions at the library.
So, unless someone wants to send me a copy, I wait.
Seeing the movie this weekend - finally! So excited!!
I have to admit though, I sort of stopped liking Katniss along the way. By the end of Mockingjay, she'd become quite the passive character.
Hope to see the movie when the crowds thin. Jennifer Lawrence is an authentic beauty who is here to stay, a good thing.

Loved the books - haven't seen the movie yet. Katniss is a superb character!
Love Katniss, love the movie. Am "reading" the book for the 17th time right now. I use quotes because I listened to the version I have on disk all day at work as I worked on my yearbook. Didn't want to go home because I was all into it. Made the day move so fast. Had to leave at the part where she just found out Peeta was working with the careers. Will finish it tomorrow.
Have you seen the barbie dolls? I so want to get one, although I stopped collecting things like that several years ago. LOL.
Loved the movie!! They did leave a lot out, but it was still over 2.5 hours! I think they had to.

As a film buff, I found the movie was over-hyped. Indeed, while it was a great concept, I honestly believe it could have been better made.
Yes, Katniss was supposed to be poor. However, her clothes and the clothes of her family did not portray them as such. Too, then there was the big screen TV that her mother and sis watched the games on.
There were many other fallacies and pretentious parts of the film as well, but I digress.
Believe it or not, I will (and want to) read the first novel.
I've still not read the books or seen the movie, but I do own a autographed photo from the movie that I got from the actress.
Love the books. I've seen the movie twice already. It exceeded my expectations. Her devotion to family is what draws me to Katniss. Wouldn't most of us do anything for the people we love? She certainly exemplifies that concept.
I really enjoyed the movie and so did my husband, who hasn't read the books. I think he plans to now! He read the Twilight series so I reckon The Hunger Games won't be too girly for him. ;-)
