Happy Monday! And welcome or welcome back to my A-Z theme of favorite fictional characters. Today is a triple delight!
T is for :
Triple Tristans! Le sigh ...
The first Tristan to capture my heat was Tristan Ludlow from Legends of the Fall. *sighs hopelessly* Played by Brad Pitt back in the 1990s, he had every woman in the world swooning over this character. Rugged good looks, an unbreakable brotherly love, tough with just a dash of sensitivity, and a bit of a horse whisperer to boot. Tristan Ludlow will forever have my heart. ;)
Tristan of Aragon from the legend of Tristan and Isolde. In the recent film, he was played by James Franco and he pretty much sealed the deal for me. The legend and the film differ quite a bit, but in both,Tristan is a devoted knight and skilled fighter. Loyal to the end. His love for Isolde is the only thing that makes him falter. But oh dear, those smoldering gazes of desire can make a lady melt into butter.
And last but not least, Tristan Thorn from Stardust. Starting out as a bit of a wimpy bloke in love with a girl who hardly notices him, he eventually grows into such a hottie, the same girl can hardly catch her breath when she next sees him. Played by Charlie Cox in the film, and who did a smashing good job IMO, he made the character of Tristan irresistible. The book by Neil Gaiman is quite a bit different than the film, and I happen to prefer the film version, but still, props to Mr. Gaiman for creating such a swoon-worthy male character.
There you have it. And ladies, you're welcome. lol
See you tomorrow for letter U. And tell me, do any one of these triple Tristans do it for you? Or, guys, can you find any qualities in these male characters you think are helpful in crafting your own? As writers we get to play the god of our stories and I always find it helpful to know what the opposite sex looks for in swoon-worthy characters. How about you? Please share ....

What do we look for? Nice curves, especially around the hips.
I am swooning at these gorgeous "T's"! Yay! take care

Ah, Tristan Thorn! He is wonderful!
Ah, triple Tristans. How much better can a day be? All excellent choices, characters played by unique actors. Excellent choices.
Triple Tristans. Nice.
In one of those strange twists of synchronicity, as I opened up my blogroll this morning and started reading this blog in particular, I've been listening to James Horner's score for Legends...
Ah, Tristan. You know he's going crazy during the film when he starts to grow a beard. It only stands to reason that he'll get a lot of attention in a blog like this.
I've never seen the second film, though James Franco is a hell of a good actor (127 Hours remains one of my favourites).
And Stardust is one of my very favourite films. Makes me smile every time. And oddly enough, I could see Charlie Cox playing the lead character in an adaptation of my book.
A lovely trio of Tristans. Probably Brad is the bext of them for me!
That's a wonderful triple! Thank you times three. :)
Pardon me while I wipe the drool from the corner of my mouth...sigh. Beautiful.
Great T-guys. Off to find my Netflix list and make some additions.
I am not familiar with the last one, but nice job on finding 3 swoon-worthy T characters all named Tristan! I's say Pitt had had every woman in the world swooning over ALL OF HIS characters from the '90s... and beyond. And I wholeheartedly agree with your second Tristan. I didn't much care for Franco until I saw Tristan & Isolde. What a beautiful/tragic love story.
Why are all Tristan's so hot? I once dated a Tristan and he was...well...in a word, hot!
I loved "Stardust" and have it on DVD. So, I applaud you for your choice!
Ooh great choices!! They're a little too old for me, but I know a good looking guy when I see 'em!
Awesome word for T!
Ah, Brad Pitt in Legends of the Fall. I think I have to go watch that again right now. I always try to start from the heart when I'm writing my male lead and then layer in looks borrowed from other swoonworthy males both literary and real life.
Great movies here! Big fan of Stardust, as you know, but I thought Legends of the Fall was remarkable, but I wasn't a big fan of Tritan and Isolde. Maybe I was too biased since I studied a lot of King Arthur.
Guys mainly look for one thing: willingness.
If I was younger I would say all three looked great.
Good T post.
Yvonne.

Ok, I do love James Franco but Brad Pitt was just beautiful back in the day. That movie and Troy was when he looked his best. Prettier than any of the leading ladies.ha
I'm reading a book about a Tristan right now. He's a boy so horribly deformed he looks like a mouse.
completely concur regarding Stardust.
Once I saw Brad Pitt in Legends of the Fall it brought back great memoris. I just gazed at that pic awhile and had my morning swoon. Forget about the rest...

Yes, please! That's all I have to say about the matter... Except that, coincidentally, I started reading Stardust 2 days ago.
Brad Pitt as Tristan. Perfection! Although I don't have children, my boyfriend and I had said that if we ever had a son we would name him after that character.
yummy. I like the triple Tristans. :D
Triple the yummy..
Oh my gosh . . . I rented Tristan and Isolde years ago from the library, not knowing what it was. It was while I was on school holiday and watched it every day, sometimes more than once, lol.
