Little of This, Little of That ...

Happy Monday! It's good to be back. It's been a comedy of errors for me this past week and I fell behind on the blogging scene. First my son got sick, then me. Our AC broke during the hottest part of the year. Being sick and sweating at the same time has got to be the worst. At least we have a pool to dip our feet in and cool off ... but we got so much torrential rain over the last few days, our pool, patio and yard became one. The pool got trashed with mud. But thankfully the AC is working again. LOL sometimes you just have to LOL.

Anyway, the winner of last week's contest from The Emotion Thesaurus is TC McKee! Yay! Congrats, TC! Thanks to all who visited and commented.

Did you know about Write Club? There are some rules to Write Club, and you should head over to DL Hammon's blog at Cruising Altitude to find out what they are. I participated in Write Club last year and it's a lot of fun. You send in 500 words of your writing anonymously and go into the ring against another writer. Fellow bloggers vote on their faves and the rounds keep going until there's a final winner. Check out the line up of agents for this one. Plus, DL's great and if you're not following his blog already, you should be!

Also, TC McKee (winner of the ET coincidentally) and Fiona Claire are hosting a Blind Speed Dating on their blogs, so check them out.

That's it from me today, so head on over and check out these great opportunities. And I just heard another tropical depression is headed my way so all of FLA may be underwater here pretty soon. I've got my snorkel handy, just in case. But really, my thoughts are with the victims' families from the Colorado shooting right now. Sorry to end on such a depressing note. But I wish you all a great day!

Sorry about the muddy pool.
Seems like everyone's AC has died this summer. And it is very hot!

Glad to hear you and your son are feeling better. Hope the pool is fixable and that the rain heads this way (we could use a little bit!)

Sorry about your problems and illnesses. Hope all is sorted out.

That's gotta suck...no AC at this time of year..and sick to boot! You poor things!!

Thank you for the WRiTE CLUB mention! I'm counting down the days! :)

It's still hot here, but compared to last summer it has been a breeze. (I'll take mid-90s to 108 any day.) That's when our AC bit the dust, btw.

Sorry for all of your troubles, PK, and good to see you're back on your feet. :)

Sorry to hear of the tough week. Being without AC down here is horrible enough, but being sick on top of it...the worst.

Excited about WRiTE CLUB. Good luck to you.

What a week last week! Sheesh. Cheers to a much better one this week.

Heading over to check out write club right now!

It rains (a lot!) in the UK but I've never seen so much water as in the last few weeks. Our back garden looks more like a lake!
Glad to hear you and your son are feeling better.

Oh no, that sounds miserable. Glad you could laugh about it. You're right, sometimes you just have to laugh.

Thanks for the heads up! Hope you two are feeling better.

It's still unbearably hot here. I feel your pain, PK!

Oh I hope the weather CALMS DOWN soon over there!! Good grief! Please take care! x

Pk, so sorry to hear about your illness, and I can imagine it was miserable without AC. Glad you're better.
Congrats to the winner.

Wow, PK, what a drag. We've had a slew of that kind of stuff in our camp too. The gas line in the basement had a leak so we still have no hot water or ability to cook after 4 weeks (repairs almost done!). In the meantime, we had a flood from a stopped up drainpipe that leaked through our ceilings. It tests one's mettle, that's for sure.

It seems weather is flood or drought lately.

Hi, PK,

Well, I am home and I am certainly glad I had missed that DILUGE of rain. Sorry to hear of your illness, no AC, and swollen pool. Life is always full of surprises, good and bad.

I wish I had time to see you before I had left, but I needed to get back. Settling back in Chicago is a lot harder than I thought it would be. I am still unpacking, organizing, and settling in Chicago life.

HOT and humid here, but bearable. I had lots of Florida days to prepare me for this. LOL.

It was GREAT seeing you. I hope to see you again soon when/if I return in the fall.

I hope all the sucky things have been and gone.

Good grief! When it rains it pours...no pun intended:) Sorry for the bummy situation lately. I hope it gets better:)

Thanks for the links too!

Hope you're feeling much better. I've been very tired from growing my bub-to-be but on the whole I'm well and happy. :-)

I love the idea of Write Club. Heading over to check it out now!

Oh, you poor thing. :( That's sounds awful. I sure hope the rest of the months improves for you.

I should have gotten into the HVAC business. I know so many people out here in St. Louis that had their units just quit. But then again, we've been running them 24/7 for four weeks now.

Have fun doing WRiTE CLUB!

I'm way behind on my blogging, too, after a break. Sorry to hear you and your son were sick, and ugh--no AC when it's hot! How miserable. I've just read about the Write Club on Michael Di Gesu's blog! Sounds like a fun thing. :)

Christine Rains said...

Sorry about the AC. I can completely sympathize. We've been without ours for over four weeks now. It's been horrible. I haven't written a thing. We're finally getting the new unit installed in one week.

Stephen Tremp said...

Sorry to hear of the AC. We've all been sick too. Crazy time of the year to catch something. Get well soon!

William Kendall said...

I hope you're all getting better!

Lynda R Young said...

It's funny how the AC always breaks down when you need it most ;)
Welcome back.

I think all our AC's have a secret conspiracy to crap out in the summer. We must find their ringleader. I'm jumping into Write Club this year, can't wait.

Congrats to TC.

I'm sorry about your illness and your AC breaking down. I'm glad it's back on. I've been AC-less in the summer. It's always an unpleasant experience.

Hi, P.K. Sorry to hear about you guys being sick and your loss of AC. That reminds me that I've really got to get my AC unit checked out. It's definitely in the triple digits this time of year in Central California.
You're right though: Sometimes you've just got to LOL.
