But Happy G Day! My theme for the month is villains and/or settings, and in honor of the gorgeous letter G, I give you:

What's great about Gollum, is that we get the full history of his demise. And even glimpses of the sliver of goodness inside that wants to come out. He is the one who must endure the brunt of full evil from the One Ring. So weak is he, in fact, that he kills his own brother over the shiny precious. It calls to him, and as its slave, Gollum continues to do whatever it takes to keep it.
Ever wonder what would've happened if Bilbo hadn't removed the One Ring from Gollum's cave? Well, we'd miss out on some of the best stories ever, but it'd probably have kept Middle Earth safe for a lot longer. Gollum would've kept it hidden away forever. Then that stinkin' Bilbo came along ...
And who could forget about:

This heartless villain can take down just about anyone, that is, til three little girls soften him up. From Despicable Me, Gru is the ultimate bad guy with minions who do his bidding, and a mad scientist to create his torturous weapons. Even with Gru we get a glimpse as to why he's so bad--his mom never paid attention to his genius, and the poor child grew up with a chip on his shoulder. His only arch-enemies are other villains as they compete for badness, but none can top Gru in the end.
Did yall love this movie, or what?? I've seen it so many times, and I always get sucked in. Steve Carrell does the voice and just nails it. Number 2 is coming out soon!
Any thoughts on Gollum or Gru? Have a different G villain you can think of? How was the weekend?
