ANNOUNCEMENT! and such ...

So yesterday my eight-year-old son asked me, "Mom, are you famous?"

I said, "Famous? No. Why do you ask that?"

"'Cause you write books." He got a shy little smile.

"Lots of people write books--some become famous, some don't. But I don't know if I'd really want fame. It does funny things to people, and it doesn't always equate to happiness. I would like to get paid to write books, though. That'd make me happy."

And he was excited to know, that this November (11-12-13) I'm launching my debut,

BUTTERMAN (TIME) TRAVEL, INC.

And if you're wondering, yes I'm independently publishing it. Why? Because after discussing it with my agent, I decided I didn't want to go on submission and play the waiting game. I have a series planned, and I want to publish them as I write. Mind you, that doesn't mean I'll be skimping on quality to rush them out. But this particular project feels right for indie.

It's a sassy futuristic time travel story that's one part sci-fi, one part romance, and one part rock-n-roll. It's NA in content, which means it's rated PG-13, so I'm targeting that after high school audience with it. NA is mostly about contemporary romance right now, but that doesn't mean it's staying that way.

Yes, I'm keeping my agent because she's awesome, and no I don't want this story to go thru a traditional publisher because I want it MY way. And yes, I'll have other stories that I hope to go traditionally with. I'm just sorta carving out my own path in the meantime.

And I know that sounded like an announcement, but THIS is my announcement:

Now, let's hear what the Blogfather had to say about his music selection while writing CassaStorm ...

You know who I'm talking about, our compadre, Alex J. Cavanaugh. As I'm a music junkie, I always find it interesting as to which music inspires my fellow artists. Which songs get you in the zone for creating, and making your magic?

Here's what the Blogfather said:

I had a selection of metal and prog rock songs that inspired me while I was writing. The energy of In Flames, Guilt Machine, and Killswitch Engage fuels my words. (And really adds to action scenes.)
As for specific songs, Stream of Passion’s Street Spirit fit one scene in CassaStar and Equalizer from the Tron: Legacy soundtrack fits the tone of CassaStorm.

And there you have it from the Ninja Captain himself. And in case you haven't seen his book elsewhere til now, (LOL) let me be the first to share:

You can find it on AMAZON
                             BARNES & NOBLE
                             GOODREADS

And Alex's web haunts on BLOG
                                           TWITTER
                                            GOODREADS

Thanks so much for stopping by! Don't forget to check my NA Thursday post out to for some brand spankin' new titles. And head on by Alex's blog and enter his giveaway!

Here's my question: is it something my boys would want to read or is it something that's going to appeal more to girls?

And let me think of the time travel question. I actually know my answer, but I have to figure out if I can make it into a post I want to write about.
